Bohemian Paradise around the cottage

Chaloupka pod skalou stands in the heart of Bohemian Paradise, among rock towns, castles, and quiet ponds. From the terrace it is a few steps into the forest, and a cycling route runs right below the cottage. Whether you love cycling, hiking, mushroom picking, or simply quiet time by the water, the area offers a trip for every day of your stay.

Here are a few tips on what is worth seeing when you make our cottage your base.

Castles and ruins

Bohemian Paradise is a land of castles. You can manage most of them as a half-day trip, and children enjoy them just as much as the grown-ups.

  • Kost Castle, one of the best preserved Gothic castles in the country
  • The Trosky ruins, two towers on volcanic cones and the symbol of the region
  • Hrubá Skála, a chateau above a rock town with viewpoints
  • Humprecht, a Renaissance hunting lodge above Sobotka

Rock towns

Sandstone towers, gorges, and viewpoints. Both the Prachovské skály and Hruboskalsko are among the most beautiful rock towns in the country, and they are close to the cottage.

  • Prachovské skály with trails for the whole family
  • Hruboskalsko and the viewpoints over the forests of Bohemian Paradise

Swimming and water

In summer you can cool off in the nearby ponds and at the swimming spot. The water in the ponds tends to be pleasantly warm, and it is quiet all around.

  • Věžák pond, picturesque swimming among the rocks
  • Nebákov, a quiet pond in the woods
  • Sobotka swimming spot

Village and services

In Libošovice, about 2 km from the cottage, there is a shop, the café DOMA, a restaurant, a post office, and massages too. For larger shopping, Sobotka (4.8 km) and Jičín (19.4 km) are close by.

By bike and on foot

A cycling route runs right below the cottage, so you can set off straight from the door. The area is made for cycling, hiking, mushroom picking, and fishing.
